On this small group van tour, visit 2 Louisiana plantations on the Eastbank of the Old Mississippi River Road. Narrated drive out of New Orleans and along the shores of Lake Pontchartrain while our driver-guide prepares you for a pilgrimage back in time to the Antebellum South.

Arrive at SAN FRANCISCO PLANTATION, an 1856 gothic steamboat style mansion, you will have a guided tour of this authentically restored National Landmark, it features elaborate gingerbread work and flamboyant hand-painted ceilings earning her the title of 'the most opulent southern Plantation'. Your tour guide will lead you through the detailed lives of generations of Creole owners and their families, both their triumphs and their tragedies. After visiting the mansion, explore an original slave cabin and the old one room schoolhouse.

A short ride upriver through sugar cane fields brings you to HOUMAS HOUSE PLANTATION.

Before your guided mansion tour, refreshing Mint Juleps will be available for purchase.

Experience the southern splendor of this "Sugar Palace" when your tour guide leads you into 16 rooms filled with period antiques and Louisiana artwork. Upon completion in 1840, Houmas House was the crown jewel of Louisiana's River Road, with its heroically columned greek revival exterior, topped by a belvedere that surveyed the oak alley leading south to the sweeping bend in the river and miles and miles of cane fields to the North and East.

Enjoy the breeze off of the Mississippi River and stroll the grounds through the shadows of ancient oaks.
